The summer solstice was just a few days ago, and these are the longest days of the year.
The sun rises early and sets late, giving us all plenty of time to enjoy the daylight and outdoors. The outdoors, though, are pretty hot – you might have noticed – and to deal with this, many of us hit the pool or the beach. It’s a great idea – cool water beats hot weather.
Basic water safety is fairly easy to grasp, but something far too few of us practice routinely. Swimming in designated areas, swimming with a buddy, actually learning how to swim, and never leaving children unattended are some basic aspects of water safety. Wearing life jackets while on a boat and abstaining from alcohol while boating are other basics. If you hit up the water this summer – remember these. These are the longest days of the year – enjoy them safely!
