Summer

Taking a summer trip this year?

Plenty of people are hitting the road instead of taking to the skies. Gas prices continue to fall, and plenty of people are taking advantage of the fact. If you’re going to hit the road, though, there’s a few things you should do first.Plenty of people are hitting the road instead of taking to the skies. Gas prices continue to fall, and plenty of people are taking advantage of the fact. If you’re going to hit the road, though, there’s a few things you should do first.

1. Make sure your oil’s been changed, your tires are good, and your car is in decent shape. Take it to a professional.

2. Make sure you back some essential safety items. A cellphone is no good without a charger. Make sure you have some water and food, too. Breaking down’s no good, but breaking down in the heat while thirsty can be dangerous. A flashlight and blanket, along with a basic first-aid kit should round things out.

3. Let someone you trust know that you’re going, where you’re going, and when you’ll be back.

4. Get plenty of sleep and rotate drivers when necessary. Sleepy driving or drowsy driving is incredibly dangerous.

A car trip might be just the thing to cap off a great summer – make it a safe one!
