Towards the end of last year, there was a series of articles in various magazines and websites talking about a rise in auto thefts.

And not just any kind of car theft – these were specifically car thefts in which the owner of the car left the keys in the car. In 2016, there were about 60,000 cars stolen that way, which accounts for about one out of every eight cars stolen.

It’s easy to feel safe in a gated community or in a rural setting where you seem to know all your neighbors, but there’s still no good reason to leave your keys in the car! It’s a simple thing and one of the more effective (and inexpensive) ways you can protect your car! If you’re still leaving your keys in your car, consider dropping the habit!
